The year is winding down. Ryan and I will celebrate Christmas, our third wedding anniversary, and soon a new year and a new baby all right here in Santiago. To temper the 90-degree heat, the fans in our apartment provide … Continue reading

It’s 2013, a brand new year. It’s one of the more predictable things I’ve been waiting for amid all that’s unpredictable about this journey and all I wait for to emerge from it. In many ways that cross the heart, … Continue reading

Christmastime Vows, 2010 I woke up this morning with a Christmas song in my head. It wasn’t one of my favorite carols or something I can remember hearing recently by happenstance. It’s the one that goes: “Rocking around the Christmas … Continue reading

The Holidays Really Do Happen at Home

We’re home from home. Over two weeks, we saw friends and family, ate at all our favorite burrito joints, and put considerable miles back on the truck as we zigged and zagged between our mothers’ two homes and those of … Continue reading

About Me

Jennifer massoni pardini headshot

I’m a writer, editor, mother, and heart collector.

In 2012, I joined the pregnancy and infant loss community when we lost our first child, Lorenzo, during my second trimester. I subsequently miscarried, as one in five pregnancies do. I am now parenting after loss and writing about our journey in the The New York Times, The Washington Post Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Literary Mama, and here. I’m also a longtime magazine contributor and editor who lived in Chile for a while.

Sharing our story has taught me that vulnerability summons strength and solidarity—no one should have to feel alone.

Please consider me a friend. I invite you to explore my site and the resources I’ve gathered for those coping with loss as well as those supporting grief and healing. You may also follow me on Twitter and help me collect hearts with the Chain-Link Heart Project.
