It’s been a while since I told you about Chile, where winter is winding down and flowers have begun to bloom and where yesterday wasn’t Labor Day. My mom visited last week with her sweet beau, Bill. She’s been here … Continue reading

It’s Memorial Day. I’m back in rainy Santiago after a quick trip to California for a lovely family wedding in San Francisco. In the very same venue, in fact, where Ryan and I were married two-and-a-half years ago, after getting … Continue reading

When you’re only one country away, getting to Machu Picchu can still take a few days—even if you don’t hike the Inca Trail. First, you board two planes. Then, you may spend two days in the lovely city of Cusco … Continue reading

Just as it’s an island of many names—Rapa Nui, Easter Island, Isla de Pascua—it’s also an island with many stories, histories, and much mystery. (At one point, the Rapa Nui population dwindled down to just 111 people—due to slavery, conflict, … Continue reading

About Me

Jennifer massoni pardini headshot

I’m a writer, editor, mother, and heart collector.

In 2012, I joined the pregnancy and infant loss community when we lost our first child, Lorenzo, during my second trimester. I subsequently miscarried, as one in five pregnancies do. I am now parenting after loss and writing about our journey in the The New York Times, The Washington Post Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Literary Mama, and here. I’m also a longtime magazine contributor and editor who lived in Chile for a while.

Sharing our story has taught me that vulnerability summons strength and solidarity—no one should have to feel alone.

Please consider me a friend. I invite you to explore my site and the resources I’ve gathered for those coping with loss as well as those supporting grief and healing. You may also follow me on Twitter and help me collect hearts with the Chain-Link Heart Project.
